About

McMenamins Edgefield isn’t just a venue—it’s an entire self-contained world. Located just east of Portland in Troutdale, the property spans a historic former poor farm that’s been transformed into a multi-use destination featuring a hotel, restaurants, bars, gardens, a winery, distillery, golf course, and one of the region’s most beloved outdoor concert spaces.

The centerpiece for live events is the concert lawn, a large open-air field that hosts major touring acts throughout the warmer months. Unlike traditional amphitheaters, Edgefield’s setup is intentionally relaxed—mostly general admission lawn seating, where people bring blankets, claim a patch of grass, and settle in for a long, communal evening. The stage sits at one end of the field, framed by trees and open sky, giving shows a festival-like feel rather than a tightly controlled concert environment.

What makes Edgefield stand out is the full experience surrounding the music. You can arrive hours early, wander the grounds with a drink, explore hidden bars, or just find a quiet corner before the crowds roll in. During shows, the vibe is social and fluid—people drift between the lawn, food and drink areas, and the edges of the property without the rigid structure you’d find at most large venues.

The acts that play here are typically well-established—indie, rock, pop, and legacy artists who draw sizable crowds but still fit the laid-back, outdoor setting. Sound carries well across the field, but the experience is less about pristine acoustics and more about atmosphere: warm evenings, shared space, and the slow build of energy as the sun goes down.

Outside of concerts, Edgefield operates year-round as a destination in its own right. You can stay overnight, hop between bars, soak in the pool, or just spend an afternoon exploring. It’s one of the few places in the area where a “night out” can easily turn into an all-day (or all-weekend) experience.
